Henry Sibley's Martin Advances to State Wrestling Semifinals
Martin went 2-0 on Friday, leaving him two wins away from a state title.
Henry Sibley wrestler Tyrell Martin remains alive in the Class AAA state championship bracket after two wins Friday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
Martin (35-8) opened up competition in the 160-pound bracket by beating Minnetonka’s Nick Schweisthal 12-2. He moved on to the championship quarterfinals, where he defeated Moorhead’s Chase Morlock 3-2.
That win advanced Martin to Saturday’s championship semifinal at 11:15 a.m. He will face Anoka’s Kyle Begin, who is 41-2 on the season.
