Highway 110 Construction In Mendota Heights: Update

Here are the details for the upcoming work in the construction project on Highway 110 between Mendota Heights and Inver Grove Heights.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation has released details for upcoming work in the construction project on Highway 110 between Mendota Heights and Inver Grove Heights. Weather permitting, there are two intersections crews plan to pave overnight Tuesday, July 25 through Wed, July 26:

  • The intersection of Delaware Ave. and Hwy 110 will be open during the paving operation with assistance from the State Patrol. The State Patrol will help move traffic through the intersection safely as the paving machines are operating, there may be some delays.
  • The intersection of Dodd Rd. and Hwy 110 will close for paving beginning at 9 p.m.Tue, July 25. The intersection is expected to reopen by 6 a.m. Wed, July 26.

Paving along eastbound Hwy 110 will continue through the rest of this week as follows:

  • Beginning Wed, July 26, the contractor will begin paving the first lift of pavement for eastbound Hwy 110 starting on the left lane and shoulder by I-35E and continue along the entire length of the project area. Then on Thu, July 27, the contractor plans to move to the right lane and shoulder.
  • Beginning Fri, July 28, the second lift of pavement will be applied to the right lane and shoulder of eastbound Hwy 110 by I-35E and continue along the entire length of the project area. Then on Sat, July 29, the contractor will move to the left lane and shoulder of eastbound Hwy 110.

Note: There may be short delays at intersections as paving machines move through.

Once the paving operations are complete, crews will apply the striping and shouldering next week. When this work is complete, eastbound Hwy 110 will be ready to open and crews will begin to close westbound Hwy 110 between I-494 and I-35E to begin work, according to a news release.

This is tentatively scheduled from Sun, Aug. 6 to Mon, Aug. 7. Reminder

As of June 12, the contractor is utilizing nighttime hours (9 p.m.-5 a.m.). This work may include: removals, excavation/grading, installation/removal of shoring, and installation of a box culvert under Hwy 110. These nighttime activities are expected to continue through mid-September.
More about this project

This one-construction season project is expected to run though the fall of 2017. During that time, there will be pavement, signing and drainage improvements along with construction of a Dakota County pedestrian underpass.
