Hikers Find Body of Missing Man in Mendota Heights on Thanksgiving

The search for a missing Twin Cities man ended after hikers discovered a body on Thanksgiving in a Mendota Heights nature preserve.

The search for a missing Twin Cities man ended after hikers discovered a body on Thanksgiving in a Mendota Heights nature preserve. The Mendota Heights Police Department began searching for Joseph Michael Hernandez, 35, after he went missing from a motel in the city Nov. 7.

The body was discovered in Friendly Marsh Park in Mendota Heights Thursday afternoon, WCCO reported.

"About 2:20 p.m., we received a 911 call," Mendota Heights Police Capt. Kelly McCarthy told KSTP. "Some people walking in the nature preserve behind us came across a dead body, the body of a male."

Hernandez is survived by his daughter.
