Mendota Heights Home Values, Property Taxes Are Going Up

Mayor Sandra Krebsbach said the property tax hike is the highest percentage increase in her 24 years with the city.

It's official: If you're a Mendota Heights homeowner, your property taxes are going up. The Mendota Heights City Council finalized the city's 2017 budget and levy earlier this month.

Kristen Schabacker, the Mendota Heights finance director, told Lillie News that the 2017 final levy was for about $8 million, a 7.88 percent increase over last year’s property tax levy of about $7.4 million.

Mayor Sandra Krebsbach said its the highest percentage increase in her 24 years with the city. However, Krebsbach said there's a reason for it.

The average home value in Mendota Heights increased about 1.4 percent from 2016.
