City officials will be hosting a Mendota Heights Fire Prevention Open House this Saturday, Oct. 15 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Fire crews are asking residents to remember to check the date on the back of your smoke alarm. If your smoke alarm is over 10 years old, officials say itβs time to replace your smoke alarm. Also, remember to check the batteries in your smoke alarms.
This year marks the third year in a row the NFPA has focused on smoke alarms because according to survey data, the public has many misconceptions about smoke alarms, which may put them at increased risk in the event of a home fire, the association said.
