Mendota Heights Streetlights Will Get LED Upgrade

Xcel Energy will convert Mendota Heights' high pressure sodium bulbs to LED this fall.

Mendota Heights streetlights are getting an upgrade.

This week, Xcel Energy will begin installing LED fixtures in streetlights in nearly 350 communities throughout Minnesota.

According to the Star Tribune, cities in northwestern and central Minnesota will receive new streetlights first before Xcel will begin on the Twin Cities area around Nov. 1.

Suburbs in the Twin Cities metro that will receive new LED streetlights include Apple Valley, Eagan, Edina, Inver Grove Heights, Mendota Heights, and Richfield.

The conversion from high-pressure sodium bulbs to LED streetlights is expected to take two and a half years to complete.
