Minnesota Teen 'Severely Hurt' After Riding On Bumper, Falling: Sheriff

STEARNS COUNTY, MN — A central Minnesota teen was 'severely hurt' when he fell after riding on a SUV's bumper attempting to hold down a portable goose blind Sunday, authorities said.On Sept. 3, the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office and the Paynesville Police Department were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on County Road 27 in Northfork Township.

The accident happened shortly before 7:00 a.m. when Jayden Miller, age 17, of Brooten was driving a white 2000 GMC Yukon westbound on County Road 27. Dylon Jergenson, age 15 of Glenwood was standing on the rear bumper of the Yukon attempting to hold down a portable goose blind being transported on the roof of the Yukon, according to authorities.

Owen Rajdl, age 17 of Villard and Payton VanBeck, age 16 of Brooten were riding inside the Yukon, also attempting to hold down the blind through their open windows, the sheriff's office said. The goose blind caught in the wind and broke free from their grasps, knocking Jergenson off the bumper and onto the pavement, where he struck his head, according to authorities.

Jergenson was transported by LifeLink III air ambulance to the Saint Cloud Hospital and later transported to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis by Gold Cross Ground Ambulance for treatment of his injuries, according to a news release.
