Oakdale Knocks Out West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Legion in Seventh Inning
Visiting Oakdale scores four runs in the seventh inning to take a 7-4 win over West St. Paul in American Legion baseball Wednesday.
Oakdale's Casey O'Sullivan socked a two-out, three-run double in the top of the seventh inning to power the Mavericks to a 7-4 first-game victory over host West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Challengers in American Legion baseball Wednesday afternoon.
The two teams went into the seventh inning tied at 3-all. But the Challengers gave up a walk, a sacrifice and an intentional walk to put two on wth one out. Oakdale's Tyler Beaulieu then sent a long fly ball to the fence before it was caught in a great effort by Challengers right fielder Jack Miller for the second out.
Oakdale's Joe Wachenburger walked to load the bases and O'Sullivan slammed a two-run three-run double deep into the outfield to make it a 6-3 game. Oakdale's Teddy Klingsporn added a run-scoring double for a Mavericks 7-3 lead.

West St. Paul/Mendota Heights Douglas Vanasek had a run-scoring sacrifice in the bottom of the seventh, but that was it for the Challengers.
Results of the second game of the doubleheader were not available.
