Patch Picks: Time for Cinco de Mayo!

If you are planning to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the Twin Cities biggest festival is close by-- so are several local dining options.

Cinco de Mayo on St. Paul's West Side

This popular event known as "Minnesota's Spiciest Celebration" continues to grow every year, drawing visitors from across the Twin Cities and beyond.   On Friday, May 6 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., there will be live music and dancing, a variety of authentic Mexican foods, specialty vendors and the Lowrider Car Show.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, the colorful annual parade will begin at the corner of Plato and Wabasha featuring music, floats, clowns, dancers and other parade favorites.  Enjoy music throughout the day at several stages, a jalapeno eating contest, the "People's Choice" salsa tasting contest, children's activities and more.   For information about schedules, parking and shuttle availability, visit www.districtdelsol.com.

Chula Vista Mexican Restaurant

The motto here is "a little piece of Mexico right in West St. Paul" and there is definitely something for everyone including popular choices like tamales, tacos, tostadas, fajitas and more.  Daily specials and a kids' menu, too.  Located at 1741 S. Planning A Party?

Choose from several fast food favorites on South Robert Street in West St. Paul for your own Cinco de Mayo bash:  pick up tacos, quesadillas and other authentic options at Pineda Tacos, 1304 S.
