Visitation's Lawrence, Morrison Take 4th At State Tennis Tourney

The duo lost to Edina's Marinovich and Boyer in the third place matchup.

Vistiation girls tennis doubles team Meredith Lawrence and Morgan Morrison finished fourth overall at the Class AA state doubles tournament on Friday at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.

Lawrence, a junior, and Morrison, a senior, also reached the state meet as a doubles team last year. They went 2-2 at the tournament in 2011. 

The duo finished the tournament with a 7-5, 7-5 loss to Edina’s Morgan Marinovich and Maddie Boyer in the third place match.

Leading into Friday’s third place matchup, the duo defeated Roseville Area’s Carly Hayes and Jacqlyn Poss 6-4, 6-2 in the first round and Minnetonka’s Maya MacGibbon and Sydney Baldwin 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 in the championship quarterfinals. But a 6-3, 6-1 loss to Mounds View’s Tacy Haws-Lay and Summer Brills sent Lawrence and Morrison to the third place match.
