West St. Paul Bowling Alley to Close After 57 Years

West Side Lanes, which has seen strikes and spares for 57 years, will close down, likely in late May.

The Robert Street property was in foreclosure when the city of West St. Paul purchased the bowling alley for $1.3 million in late 2012, the Star Tribune reported.

“Somebody had to acquire it,” West St. Paul's acting city manager told the paper.

The city has no set plans for the property though its working with a developer and considering options such as a restaurant.

On West Side Lanes' Facebook page, customers are leaving notes of reminiscence and gratitude.

"I will always remember the first time I serenaded my fiancé there," one patron wrote.
