Hennepin County Snowplow Identified In Minneapolis Fatal Hit-And-Run

Police responded to the scene at 2nd Avenue Southeast and Hennepin Avenue East in Minneapolis at about 2:30 a.m.​​ on Wednesday.

MINNEAPOLIS — Police are investigating after a man was killed in a hit-and-run crash involving a snowplow outside a gas station in Minneapolis early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the scene at 2nd Avenue Southeast and Hennepin Avenue East at about 2:30 a.m. Officers found an unidentified man in the street near the entrance to the Holiday gas station. "It was apparent he had been run over by a vehicle," investigators said.

The man was declared dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel.

In an update Wednesday afternoon, police said that the driver of the striking vehicle has since been identified and is cooperating with investigators, and that "preliminary information indicates that the unidentified male walked in front of a slow-moving Hennepin County plow truck as it left a gas station parking lot."

No arrests have been made.

Forensic scientists, homicide detectives, and the Minnesota State Patrol are jointly investigating. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the man’s name and the nature of his death.
