2-Year-Old Girl's Death In Minneapolis Called 'Suspicious'

MINNEAPOLIS — Minneapolis police are investigating after a 2-year-old girl was found unresponsive and later died Tuesday evening. Investigators are calling her death "suspicious."

At about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers responded to a call in the 100 block of Glenwood Avenue North for a "baby who was not breathing and was unresponsive."

However, police found a 2-year-old girl in a room with narcotics paraphernalia around her, authorities said.

Officers administered Narcan and performed CPR until paramedics arrived. The girl was transported to Hennepin Healthcare where she later died.

"I am horrified and saddened by this tragedy," Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara said in a statement. "Our investigators are fully committed to finding the facts and figuring out how this little girl died."

There were two adults and one seven-year-old with the two-year-old in the home at the time of the incident, authorities said. The seven-year-old was unharmed, according to investigators.

Authorities spoke with both adults regarding the circumstances surrounding the girl’s death, police said. No arrests have been made.
