MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A 3-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries when he was shot Sunday evening, according to reports.

The incident occurred near 23rd Avenue North and Sheridan Avenue North, FOX 9 reported. While authorities initially said the shooting may have happened while the child was playing outside, according to Minnesota Public Radio, there was no evidence that was the case Monday afternoon, police told FOX 9. The boy was in stable condition Monday, FOX 9 reported.

The shooting took place roughly 1 mile from sites where three children were shot about a year ago, according to Minnesota Public Radio.
