Weather forecast:
1. Chief O’Hara Interfered With Sexual Conduct Claims Probe: Mayor Frey (patch.com) — Minneapolis residents are facing another shakeup in police leadership after Chief Brian O’Hara resigned when an investigation found he interfered with a probe into his conduct with city employees, though the underlying allegations weren’t substantiated. Mayor Jacob Frey says O’Hara would have faced possible termination, while City Council leaders, including Robin Wonsley, are using a City Hall news conference to criticize Frey’s handling of MPD reform and oversight.
2. Hennepin County approves $19.2 million for affordable housing, targets low-income families and first-time buyers (insightnews.com) — Minneapolis residents could see more affordable homes as Hennepin County moves a $19.2 million housing package toward final approval, supporting projects in Minneapolis and several nearby suburbs. The funding would create or preserve about 1,400 affordable units, prioritize very low-income renters and first-generation homebuyers, and tap new state-backed sales tax dollars aimed at easing the region’s housing crunch.
3. ‘Defenders of truth': MN community observers awarded for documenting immigration surge (twincities.com) — Minneapolis residents who served as constitutional observers during the recent Operation Metro Surge immigration crackdown are being honored for documenting federal agents’ actions and challenging ICE in court. A Minneapolis woman’s arrest and treatment are central to an ongoing ACLU lawsuit, while a longtime University of Minnesota professor was also recognized for her work advancing open government and media freedom.
4. Morris Day, Milli Vanilli, Vanilla Ice among acts performing at Trump's America 250 concerts (thestate.com) — Minneapolis music fans may notice hometown legend Morris Day and the Time heading to Washington, D.C., this summer to play President Donald Trump’s America 250 concert series on the National Mall. Before that, Day is slated for a Prince tribute at the Armory on June 5 and an all-Minnesotan concert June 20 at Mystic Lake Amphitheater in Shakopee.
