Flash Flood Threat Builds Overnight Into Wednesday Morning

Heavy rain tonight could lead to localized flooding before storm chances taper off Wednesday afternoon.

(National Weather Service)

MINNEAPOLIS,MN — Central and southern Minnesota, along with west central Wisconsin, face a level 2 of 5 severe weather risk tonight, according to the National Weather Service. Wisconsin's risk is slightly lower, at a level 1.

Damaging wind gusts are the main concern, with large hail also possible and a chance of a tornado or two in western Minnesota. Storms are expected to stall out and fire repeatedly over the same areas overnight, raising the risk of flash flooding, especially across west central and central Minnesota.
