2 Officers Among Victims In Downtown Minneapolis Shooting: Authorities

MINNEAPOLIS — Multiple people, including two police officers, were victims in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in downtown Minneapolis, according to authorities.

As of 5:25 p.m., The Minnesota Star Tribune reported the shooter was down, citing police dispatch audio.

The Minneapolis Police Department was on the scene around 5 p.m. of the incident in the area of the Loring Towers apartment building on East Grant Street, authorities said.

The city asked people to avoid the area from 12th Street to Franklin Avenue and from Hennepin Avenue to Third Avenue South.

Gov. Tim Walz said his public safety team was responding to the shooting.

"Minnesota is praying for our first responders," he wrote in a post on X.

Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth posted on X that she was "praying for the victims of this heinous crime" and "incredibly thankful for the massive response of our brave law enforcement officers."
