2. Cafe Near Minnehaha Falls Closes (patch.com) — Minneapolis coffee lovers are losing Arya Café, the Ethiopian coffee spot near Minnehaha Falls that closed August 31 after just a year in business. Co-founders highlighted how the café became a cultural gathering place, partnering with northeast Minneapolis roasters and local artists, and say they're hopeful about what might come next for the neighborhood space.
   

3. Calling Minneapolis Poets: Apply for 2027–2028 City Poet Laureate (spokesman-recorder.com) — Minneapolis writers now have a chance to become the city's 2027–2028 Poet Laureate, a paid two-year role representing local culture through public events, workshops, and original work. Applicants must be Hennepin County residents over 21 with strong ties to Minneapolis, and applications are due online by October 7, 2026. The position includes a $16,000 honorarium and access to a major fellowship opportunity.
   

4. Twins admire effort, but know time for moral victories is running low (mlb.com) — Playing in Minneapolis, the Twins dropped a 12-inning heartbreaker to the Tigers, 11–6, despite multiple late chances to win. The loss keeps Minnesota 3.5 games out of the final Wild Card spot as they head on a crucial road trip.
