MINNEAPOLIS, MN — A former Minnesota State Patrol trooper has been sentenced to 27 years in federal prison for producing and distributing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen announced.
Jeremy Francis Plonski was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Kate M. Menendez to 324 months in prison and 180 months of supervised release. He pleaded guilty in October 2025.
Court documents show that from April to October 2023, Plonski produced 23 videos depicting the sexual abuse of a minor victim, in some cases while wearing his state trooper uniform. He then distributed some of the videos through a social media application, according to prosecutors.
Rosen said the sentence reflects his office's commitment to protecting children and to holding law enforcement accountable when officers violate that trust.
Minnesota State Patrol Colonel Christina Bogojevic said Plonski was fired following the investigation and that no badge or position places anyone above the law.
FBI Minneapolis Special Agent in Charge Christopher D. Dotson and Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Superintendent Drew Evans also issued statements on the case, both emphasizing the seriousness of abuse committed by someone sworn to uphold the law.
The case was investigated by the FBI and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, with assistance from the Minnesota State Patrol, and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Minnesota.
It was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a Justice Department initiative targeting child exploitation launched in 2006.
