1. Feds: 10 Foreign Nationals Charged With Voter Fraud In Minnesota, Including August Primary (patch.com) — Federal prosecutors in Minneapolis say ten foreign nationals have been indicted for allegedly voting illegally or falsely claiming U.S. citizenship in Minnesota elections, including the August 11, 2026 primary. Officials stress that only citizens may vote and warn that non-citizens who do so face criminal charges and possible deportation, with penalties ranging up to five years in prison and substantial fines.
2. Demand for emergency shelter remains high in Twin Cities even as beds are added (minnpost.com) — Minneapolis readers get a close look at how full local emergency shelters are, including the new Simpson Housing Services facility and family shelter People Serving People near downtown. Despite added beds in Hennepin and Ramsey counties, most spaces fill within hours, families face long waitlists, and thousands remain in limbo on housing referral lists, raising questions about how far current investments will really go.
3. Police release names of 2 of 3 people who died in Minneapolis crash (mprnews.org) — A high‑speed early‑morning crash between a stolen car and a semi in Minneapolis left three young people dead and four others seriously injured, all from the car. Authorities have now identified two of the deceased, while investigators continue examining how speed and other factors led to the vehicle becoming wedged beneath the trailer near I‑35W.
4. Brooklyn Park man charged in 2025 Minneapolis shooting robbery (kstp.com) — A Brooklyn Park man has been charged in a 2025 Minneapolis robbery where a victim was shot in the head under a bridge near Cedar and 17th Avenues. Prosecutors say new witness information and prior admissions led to attempted murder, assault, and robbery charges, while the victim continues to face lasting injuries including vision loss and seizures.
5. People pack first listening session about plan to close Minneapolis public schools (kare11.com) — Minneapolis parents packed Camden High School to confront district leaders over a proposal to close more than a dozen public schools, including several in north Minneapolis neighborhoods. Families raised fears about community damage, program cuts, and enrollment strategies, while officials argued closures are needed due to under‑enrollment and funding shortfalls and scheduled more listening sessions before a November 10 board vote.
