Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested in South Minneapolis

Police were on the scene as he held an employee at gunpoint. While fleeing, he was hit by a police car and scuffled with police.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- Officers from the MPD's Third Precinct arrested an armed robber Tuesday night in the 3600 block of Minnehaha Avenue South just after 8:00 p.m.

The 911 caller stated a male suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Deleon Coltay Walker, was holding a female employee at gunpoint, according to the MPD Facebook page. He was demanding that the female employee open the safe.

The suspect fled the scene as police were setting up a perimeter. During the pursuit, he was struck by an MPD vehicle. He scuffled with officers as they attempted to arrest him, eventually being subdued by a Taser.

The suspect was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center to have his injuries evaluated, then was transported to the Hennepin County Jail.
