'Burst Of Snow' Expected In Middle Of Wild Weather Week: MN Forecast

MINNEAPOLIS — Buckle up for a wild week of February weather that could feature both new snow and highs near 70 degrees. Monday will feature temperatures in the mid-60s (it's still February!) before temperatures drop back below freezing to provide a chance for snow on Tuesday and Wednesday.

"A band of snow will move across the region, and strengthen as it approaches eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin," the National Weather Service said.

"Northwest wind gusts of 30 to near 40 mph will lead to blowing snow, and temperatures will be falling below freezing. This combination could lead to slick travel that could last into the Wednesday morning commute."

Temperatures will warmup to nearly 70 degrees this weekend.

Monday: Sunny, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a south wind 15 to 20 mph becoming southwest 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Monday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east southeast after midnight.

Tuesday: Snow likely, mainly after 3pm. Patchy blowing snow after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a temperature rising to near 38 by 9am, then falling to around 25 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a light and variable wind becoming north northwest 15 to 20 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of snow before 8pm, then a chance of flurries between 8pm and 9pm. Patchy blowing snow before 10pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 8. Blustery, with a north northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 23. West northwest wind around 15 mph.
