Bakken Ensemble is thrilled to collaborate with renowned pianist Hanna Hyunjung Kim, whose extraordinary musicianship embodies this year’s vision. Kim joins Bakken Ensemble for a powerful program spanning the tender lyricism of Brahms and Suk, Mahler’s brooding passion, Respighi’s lush quintet, and the fierce, haunting drama of Shostakovich’s wartime Piano Trio No. 2.

Johannes Brahms: Songs Without Words for Cello and Piano
(Op. 70, No. 2 “Lerchengesang” & Op. 71, No. 5 “Minnelied”)

Josef Suk: Elegie for Piano, Violin, and Cello
Gustav Mahler: Piano Quartet in A minor
Ottorino Respighi: Piano Quintet in F minor

Featuring:
