A preliminary autopsy showed no signs of injury or trauma, authorities said, but the Hennepin County Medical Examiner will release the manner and cause of death when the full autopsy is complete.

"Our hearts go out to Dallas’ wife, family, and friends. He was larger than life, both in his physical presence and his service to Ramsey County," said Sheriff Bob Fletcher.

"Yesterday was the worst day of my life," Edeburn's wife, Jes, shared on Facebook.

"We received the news that Dallas passed away. It still doesn't feel real, like he'll walk through the door any moment to eat the pasta salad he wanted for dinner- it's still sitting in the fridge waiting for him. Like he'll walk through the door, banging whatever he was carrying off the walls, with a story to tell me about work or something he was doing. Like my husband, my great big love, is still here."

Edeburn started his career at the Ramsey County Correctional Facility in July 2015. He was hired as a deputy at the sheriff's office at the start of 2017, where he worked in courts, patrol, training, and on the Violent Crime Enforcement Team.

"In addition, Dallas was a well-respected member of the SWAT Team," the sheriff's office said on Facebook. "He has received numerous accolades for his tremendous police work, heroic efforts during SWAT operations, and his work to rescue a suicidal young woman who was going to jump from a freeway bridge."

Edeburn was seriously injured in March 2021 when his squad car was struck by a stolen vehicle that was fleeing from Mounds View Police. His car was completely burned as a result of the crash.

"Dallas worked valiantly to rehab from his injuries and return to full-duty status. His commitment to his family, his partners, and the citizens of Ramsey County will never be forgotten," the sheriff's office said.
