Deputy, Subject Names Released in Eveleth Shooting

Officers from several agencies were lead on a 17-minute pursuit that ended west of Eveleth in a shooting off Highway 101 and Admiral Road.

The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) has identified the deputy who fired his weapon during an officer involved shooting incident on Tuesday, Nov. 22, near Eveleth. Deputy Tim Officer has been with the St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office for 19 years. Deputy Officer is on standard administrative leave.

The subject, Aaron Lee Boshey, 27, last known address in Virginia, Minn., is being treated for his injuries at Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, according to a news release.

According to the BCA’s preliminary investigation, early on Nov. 22, Virginia Police Department officers attempted to pull over Boshey’s vehicle on Highway 53 and Highway 169 because of an existing warrant for a felon in possession of a Firearm. Boshey fled, leading officers from several agencies on a 17-minute pursuit that ended west of Eveleth at Highway 101 and Admiral Road when Boshey’s vehicle became stuck and he fled into the woods. He was carrying a handgun and wearing a bullet-proof vest, according to authorities. The officer fired his weapon, striking Boshey, after which Boshey walked out of the woods and surrendered.

The BCA’s investigation into the officer involved shooting is ongoing. Once it is complete, the BCA will turn its findings over to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for review.
