Fiery 3-Vehicle Early-Morning Crash Leaves One Dead, 3 Injured
The driver of an SUV that burst into flames after colliding with another vehicle was killed in a crash that remains under investigation.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – One person was killed and three more were injured in a three-vehicle crash early Monday morning, Minneapolis Police said.
The crash occurred at 5:20 a.m. at the intersection of Lowry Ave. and NE Marshall St. and occurred when two vehicles collided. One of the vehicles, a sport utility vehicle, burst into flames while the other vehicle spun into a third car. The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene and the three other people were taken to area hospitals.
Preliminary information from the investigation is that one vehicle was westbound Lowry Avenue NE and another vehicle was southbound Marshall St NE. After the initial collision, one vehicle spun and struck an eastbound vehicle on Lowry. The collision occurred in the intersection, according to department spokesman John Elder. The intersection is controlled by stoplights.

The accident remains under investigation by the state police and the police department’s traffic unit. The intersection and the Lowry Ave. bridge remain closed at this time.
The driver of the SUV has not been identified. Elder wrote that the driver's identity and cause of death will be released in coming days by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.
