MINNESOTA — Believe it or not, winter weather is just around the corner. The season's first frost will arrive for some Minnesotans as soon as this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze watch for parts of southwest Minnesota, warning that frost and freeze conditions could kill crops, and other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Things won't get quite that cold in the Twin Cities metro area, but the low temperature will dip down to the 30s at least once this week.

Thursday: Increasing clouds, with a high near 63. Breezy, with a west wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 43. West northwest wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday: Showers likely, mainly before 1pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 51. Breezy, with a west northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.
