Flood Watch Now In Effect In Twin Cities Metro: What To Expect

A flood watch is now in effect through late Tuesday night for the Twin Cities metro area and beyond, the National Weather Service said.

MINNEAPOLIS — A flood watch is now in effect through late Tuesday night for the Twin Cities metro area and beyond, the National Weather Service said.

Excessive rain runoff may result in flooding of local rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations, weather officials warned.

The following Minnesota counties are at risk for flash flooding: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, McLeod, Meeker, Ramsey, Renville, Scott, Sibley, Washington, and Wright.

"Thunderstorms and heavy rain will be present through much of the day today," the NWS said Monday.

"Gusty winds and large hail will be the main threats with thunderstorms. It will not be storms all day, but there will also be showers providing rain for a good part of the day leading to an area-wide flooding risk."
