Former KARE 11 Star Reveals Her Next Move After Retirement

A familiar Minnesota TV face is returning in a different format with another longtime broadcaster.

TWIN CITIES, MN — Former KARE 11 meteorologist Belinda Jensen is launching a new podcast months after retiring from television.

Jensen is teaming up with longtime Minnesota broadcaster Lee Valsvik for “Weathering Life Podcast with Bel & Lee,” a new weekly show from Talk North.

“After decades in MN broadcasting, Bel and Lee are bringing their chemistry, humor, and perspective to a new weekly podcast,” Talk North said in its announcement.

The show will focus on “navigating life’s biggest transitions,” according to Talk North. The podcast is listed on the Talk North website under the name “Weathering Life w/ Belinda Jensen & Lee Valsvik.”

Jensen retired from KARE 11 in May after a 36-year broadcasting career, including 33 years at the station. She had served as KARE 11’s chief meteorologist and as a host of “KARE 11 Saturday.”

Valsvik is also a longtime fixture in Twin Cities media. KARE 11 said in 2024 that she was stepping away from television after decades on air and years spent hosting the station’s Saturday morning show.

The pair’s new show is described as a weekly podcast about career pivots, reinvention, unexpected detours and “the sunny stretches in between.”

Talk North did not immediately announce a premiere date in its social media post.
