Fugitive Possibly Armed With AR-15 Rifle May Be In Twin Cities: Police

MINNESOTA — A fugitive recently convicted of murder may be in the Twin Cities metro area and armed with a 9mm handgun and an AR-15 rifle, according to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety.

"Ralph Apmann remains at large tonight," the agency said in a statement Tuesday night.

Apmann, 58, posted bail after he was charged in the August 2021 death of Juan Morales-Rivera in Windom, Minnesota. Apmann killed Morales-Rivera in a bar fight, according to the criminal complaint.

But Apmann failed to appear in court for the trial, authorities said.

On Tuesday afternoon, a Cottonwood County jury found Apmann guilty of second-degree unintentional murder.

Apmann is 5 feet 10 inches tall, 230 pounds, has hazel eyes, and is bald with some gray hair, investigators said. People who may have seen him should not approach but instead call 911, according to police.
