MINNEAPOLIS — Gov. Tim Walz on Tuesday announced the appointment of Matthew Frank as a district court judge in Hennepin County.

Frank's profile rose after successfully prosecuting former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the murder of George Floyd. Chauvin's state trial was live-streamed around the globe.

In a statement, Walz said Frank "will be a remarkable judge who will approach this position with the understanding that justice is a process, not a result."
