Heat Advisory Issued For Father's Day: MN Weather

Heat index values up to 100 are expected, according to the National Weather Service.

MINNEAPOLIS — Following a cooler and rainy Saturday, Father's Day in the Twin Cities will feature of burst of heat, with temperatures feeling like they're in the 100s.

"Our first 90 degree day is likely on Sunday across much of the area, including the Twin Cities metro," the National Weather Service said. "Heat indices will climb near 100 for a few hours during the afternoon."

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Temperatures are expected to hover above normal for the next couple of weeks.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 92. Heat index values as high as 100. South southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 4am. Low around 70. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming northeast after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Monday: Showers and thunderstorms before 10am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 10am and 1pm, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. High near 82. North northeast wind 10 to 15 mph becoming south southeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
