Heat Could Buckle Roads, Break Records This Week: MN Weather
"Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 107 possible," the National Weather Service warned.
MINNEAPOLIS — Extremely hot and humid weather is expected this week, and there's a chance it could break records and buckle roads.
An excessive heat watch has been issued for central Minnesota — including the Twin Cities metro area — starting Tuesday morning and lasting through Thursday evening.
"Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 107 possible," the National Weather Service said.

"Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities."
The NWS also warned that while the heat should start waning by Thursday, "the cumulative effect from multiple days of excessive heat may lower one`s tolerance to handle it. The extreme heat may also lead to buckling roads."

Tuesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 93. Heat index values as high as 102. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 74. East wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday: Sunny and hot, with a high near 100. East southeast wind 5 to 15 mph becoming south southwest in the afternoon.
Wednesday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 77. South wind 10 to 15 mph becoming west southwest after midnight.
Thursday: Mostly sunny and hot, with a high near 93. West northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
