Hennepin Co. Candidate Charged With Assault
Marisa Christina Simonetti, 30, of Edina was jailed Friday and charged with fifth-degree assault (fear of bodily harm or death).

MINNEAPOLIS — A candidate for the Hennepin County commissioner was jailed and charged with fifth-degree misdemeanor assault (fear of bodily harm or death) over the weekend.
Marisa Christina Simonetti, 30, of Edina was arrested on Friday and released Monday afternoon after posting a $2,000 bond.
A woman told the Edina Police Department that Simonetti assaulted her, KARE 11 reported.

A police report reviewed by the Star Tribune indicated that officers arrived at about 12:30 p.m. Friday in response to a 911 caller saying that: "her landlady is trying to trespass into her section of the home."
The home is located on the 5300 block of Interlachen Boulevard.

Simonetti told KARE 11 she is innocent and that her accuser was a squatter who rented a room from her but refused to leave when the lease was up.
In a video posted to her X account, the conservative candidate said there are two sides to every story and she will have more to say later. Simonetti confirmed that she is still running for commissioner in Hennepin County District Six.
