National Poetry Month is a celebration of poetry created in 1996 by the Academy of American Poets to bring awareness and increase appreciation of poetry in the United States.

Your library offers a variety of ways to participate in the creation and reading of poetry using online resources and your library card.

Online resources from your library

• Columbia Granger’s World of Poetry - Full-text of widely read poems, plus commentaries and biographies.
• LitFinder - Full-text poems, short stories, essays, speeches and plays with summaries, biographies and images. Some content is citations and abstracts.
• Minneapolis Poetry Society and the League of Minnesota Poets finding aid – This is an inventory of a collection you can find in Special Collections at Minneapolis Central Library.
