Highs Will Approach 100 Next Week: MN Weather

MINNEAPOLIS — It's the dog days of summer, and the sweltering heat is on it's when to Minnesota. Highs will approach 100 degrees next week.

"Enjoy a few more days of seasonal summer temps before the mercury skyrockets," the National Weather Service said.

"A prolonged period of heat is on track to impact much of the country through the end of the month. A few small chances for isolated rain/t-storms on Friday and Saturday, otherwise, dry."

Here's the specific NWS forecast from the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport:

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80. North northwest wind around 15 mph.

Thursday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 64. North wind 10 to 15 mph becoming light and variable after midnight.

Friday: A slight chance of showers between 1pm and 4pm, then a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms after 4pm. Increasing clouds, with a high near 84. West northwest wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: A slight chance of thunderstorms before 7pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 64. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming light and variable after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

Saturday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1pm. Sunny, with a high near 86. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west northwest in the afternoon.

Saturday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 7pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 64. West southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 89. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 66. North northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight.
