TWIN CITIES, MN — Frigid temperatures for late October will create conditions for the first snowfall this weekend, according to the latest forecast.
Friday will see strong northwest winds that will bring in a cold front, with a high of around 40 degrees and a low of around 27 degrees.
The Twin Cities metro area could see nearly a half inch of snow on Saturday, with southern Minnesota seeing even more.

"Cold weather remains in place this weekend with temperatures 10-20 degrees below normal," the National Weather Service said. "The first snowflakes of the season are likely Saturday with light accumulation up to an inch possible across southern Minnesota."
Temperatures on Halloween night will be in the low 20s.
