TWIN CITIES, MN — A messy Friday morning commute is on tap for the Twin Cities metro area.

"A wintry mix of snow and ice will spread across southern Minnesota Thursday afternoon and last into Friday morning," the National Weather Service said.

"Temperatures will be right near freezing, so anywhere from 1 to 5" of snow is possible, with the highest amounts along I-90."
