KARE 11 Anchor Injured In Boating Accident, Taking Time Off Air
The KARE 11 anchor shared a personal health update Wednesday after an unexpected weekend incident.
MINNEAPOLIS — Longtime KARE 11 anchor Julie Nelson announced Wednesday that she is taking time off the air after she and her husband were injured in a boating accident over the weekend.
Nelson shared the news on social media, writing that both she and her husband were treated for non-life-threatening injuries following what she described as a one-boat accident.
She did not share details about where or how the accident occurred.

"I will be off the air while I take some time to heal and recover," Nelson wrote.
"I'm grateful for the outpouring of love and support that's been shown to me and my family."

Nelson co-anchors KARE 11's 5, 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts. She has been with the NBC affiliate since 2003, previously working at KSTP before joining the station.
KARE 11 has not announced a return date or a fill-in anchor arrangement.
