Man Electrocuted In Fridley After Chainsaw Hits Powerline

First responders attempted life-saving measures, but the man was declared dead at the scene, authorities said.

FRIDLEY, MN — A man died Thursday after he was electrocuted while removing a tree in Fridley, authorities said.

Just before 8:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to the 5200 block of Buchanan Street Northeast.

A private company was cutting down a tree at a property when an employee — who was on a lift — accidentally struck a nearby powerline with a chainsaw and was electrocuted, authorities said.

The lift was lowered, and emergency responders tried life-saving measures, but the man was ultimately declared dead at the scene.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) will investigate the incident.
