Minneapolis Man Carjacked Preacher Giving Water To Homeless: Feds
The preacher was carjacked at gunpoint while handing out water bottles on a hot August day.

MINNEAPOLIS — A Minneapolis man has admitted in federal court to carjacking a preacher who was handing out bottled water to the homeless, U.S. Attorney Andrew M. Luger announced Friday.
Dwight Keith Eaglehawk, 34, pleaded guilty to one count of carjacking before Senior Judge Ann D. Montgomery. A sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
On Aug. 1, 2021, Eaglehawk approached the preacher in a parking lot near Lake Street in south Minneapolis, according to authorities. The preacher was handing out water bottles to homeless people amid hot summer weather.

Eaglehawk asked for two bottles of water before brandishing a Marlin .22 rifle and demanding the preacher's Dodge Dart, authorities said.
After taking the keys, Eaglehawk fled in the Dodge Dart, according to investigators.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Evan B. Gilead and David P. Steinkamp.
