May 1, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – Many community members can now rest easy after the cause of numerous loud explosions has been solved.

For weeks, MPD Officers received complaints of loud explosions throughout the city, mainly in North Minneapolis. The possibility of power issues, construction, shootings, etc., were all investigated.
One caller mentioned seeing a small, white vehicle driving away from the scene. Our officers kept this description in mind, and eventually came upon a matching car that failed to stop for a stop sign. Upon checking the vehicle, officers found a canister firework in the back seat.

Due to the nature of the canister firework and calls on explosive noises in the area, the MPD Bomb Squad brought the explosive into evidence. The driver received a citation in lieu of arrest.
