Minneapolis
The city of Minneapolis' traditional "Red, White, and Boom" celebration, including the fireworks over the Mississippi River, will not be held this year. But it's not because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The celebration was canceled due to construction at Father Hennepin Park and staff shortages.
In lieu of the traditional downtown fireworks, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board will be hosting smaller, family-friendly July 4 events at several parks.
Richfield
The city of Richfield's traditional "Red White & Blue Days" celebration will not be held this year. It's not because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but instead, the rising costs caused by spiking inflation.
In its place this July, there will be the "Lil Sparkler" event, which will feature games, music, a movie in the park, plus a laser show, and more.
