Minnesota Gophers Volleyball Upsets Top-Ranked Wisconsin

Molly Lohman and the Minnesota Golden Gophers won three sets to sweep the number one ranked Wisconsin Badgers.

The Golden Gophers volleyball team slammed home a big win in Madison last night, sweeping the Wisconsin Badgers in three sets. Before last night's game, the Badgers were ranked number one in the nation, while the Gophers were ranked third.

Among the standout performances was junior Molly Lohman, from Mankato, who racked up a season high nine blocks for the Gophers. Lohman had a hitting percentage of .625.

As a team, the Gophers hit .323, while they limited Wisconsin to just .050, a season low.

The Gophers had just 13 errors in 99 attempts to Wisconsin's 27 errors in 101 attempts, according to GopherSports.com. Minnesota had 14 team blocks to the Badgers' three. The 14-block mark was the fourth-highest for the team this season and the most blocks for the Gophers in three sets.

The Gophers are currently 14-2 overall and 6-1 in conference play. Their only loss to a Big Ten opponent this year came against Penn State.

The Gophers will play again on the road Saturday against Michigan State at 7:00 p.m., which is currently ranked 14th nationally.
