Minnesota Weird: 25 Years Ago, We Hosted the Super Bowl
On Jan. 26, 1992, Minnesota hosted Super Bowl XXVI and put on one of the weirdest halftime shows in the history of the NFL.
MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Twenty-five years ago today, Minnesota hosted Super Bowl XXVI, and in the process, put on one of the weirdest halftime shows in the history of the NFL. The halftime theme, "Winter Magic," played up the state's cold climate; "Come to Minnesota where winter is the hottest time of the year!"
A quarter-century later, few people remember the actual game that was played between the Washington Redskins (37) and the Buffalo Bills (24). However, there's more than handful of fans who can look back (and probably cringe) at how the unique way Minnesota presented itself to a national audience.
Minnesota will again host the Super Bowl in 2018 at U.S. Bank Stadium, but it's unlikely that halftime show can out-weird this:
