BELTRAMI COUNTY, MN — Authorities in northern Minnesota are alerting the public about a vulnerable adult who they say went missing in Maple Ridge Township and may be armed with a handgun.

Logan A. Roy, 21, experienced a mental health crisis Sunday and went for a walk, which is common for him, the Beltrami County Sheriff's Office said.

After leaving his home, family members received texts stating that Roy planned to provoke law enforcement into a situation where they would be forced to take his life, according to investigators.
