Mystery Of Suspicious Candy-Dropping Drone Solved: Sheriff

Police in Minnesota became concerned after a drone flew above a group of children and dropped a bag of candy.

The evidence indicates the incident "was an ill-conceived effort" to obtain footage to post on social media, "rather than an attempt to engage in criminal activity," authorities said.

BENTON COUNTY, MN — The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said the mystery of the suspicious flying drone that dropped a bag of candy for a group of children has been solved, and no criminal activity was taking place.

The evidence indicates the incident "was an ill-conceived effort" to obtain footage to post on social media, "rather than an attempt to engage in criminal activity," authorities said.

On Monday evening, police received a report that a woman and five children were fishing at a lake when they saw a drone come out of a wooded area and fly above the group.
