MINNEAPOLIS, MN — Next time you’re near the Stone Arch Bridge, look out for the landscaping: One shrub might be sentient.

A video is circulating on social media of a person disguised as a plant startling pedestrians on the bridge. In the video, the prankster is seated in a planter pot, and whoever is inside the costume appears to pass easily as vegetation beneath a thick layer of leaves and flowers.

“Someone’s on Stone Arch in a plant costume messing with people as they walk by,” wrote Minneapolis-based designer and illustrator Melanie G. S. Walby, who posted two videos of the plant Tuesday night on Twitter.

While the humanoid bush might catch some on unawares, it appears the plant’s antics are all in good fun. In addition to jumping up and waving its arms (or should we say branches?), the videos show the plant high-fiving and fist-bumping passersby. It even posed for a picture with Walby and her friend.
