President Biden To Visit Power Systems Manufacturer In Fridley, MN

FRIDLEY, MN — President Joe Biden on Monday will visit the Cummins Power Generation Facility in Fridley as part of his administration’s "Investing in America" tour, which aims to promote his economic agenda.

Cummins manufactures generators and other power generation equipment. In October 2022, the Indiana-based company announced it will begin manufacturing electrolyzers in the United States for the first time.

"Electrolyzers help produce clean hydrogen that is essential for reducing emissions and creating good-paying jobs in manufacturing and industrial sectors, and play a critical role in clean energy supply chains that until now have largely been produced overseas," the White House said in a statement.

The White House credits laws signed by Biden — including the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, CHIPS and Science Act, and Inflation Reduction Act — for more than $2 billion in private sector investments made across Minnesota, including the Cummins plant.

The White House highlighted three other projects ahead of Biden's visit:

• Xcel Energy's plan to spend $575 million for the 450-megawatt Sherco Solar Project, which would be the largest solar farm in the state
• Heliene's plan to expand solar panel construction in Mt. Iron, Minnesota.
• Bobcat's plan to build a new construction equipment assembly plant in Rogers, Minnesota

The Biden administration also noted $2.7 billion in federal funding that will go to 182 infrastructure projects across Minnesota. The projects primarily focus on transportation.

Biden kicked off his tour Tuesday with the first stop at a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Durham, North Carolina. The president and other members of his administration will visit more than 20 states over the course of three weeks to promote Biden's economic agenda.
