Shooting In Minneapolis Leads To Death Of One

A primary assessment indicated the victim had no pulse or respirations. Officers began CPR and wound management.

October 1, 2020 (MINNEAPOLIS) – On Thursday evening, October 1st, at 10:09 pm, officers from the Minneapolis Police Department were in the area of 26th Street East and Bloomington Avenue when they heard the sound of a gunshot.

While officers ran towards the sound of the shot, they were notified of a ShotSpotter activation in the area. Officers located an adult male, believed to be in his 30’s, laying in the roadway suffering from a gunshot wound. A primary assessment indicated the victim had no pulse or respirations. Officers began CPR and wound management. They were relieved of providing care by paramedics. The victim was transported by ambulance to Hennepin Healthcare Hospital where he died a short time later.

Officers spoke with several people who were in the area who may have heard or seen something.

Homicide investigators, along with crime lab personnel, responded to process the scene and interview additional people.

There is no one in custody at this time.

The identity of the victim, along with the nature and cause of death, will be released by the Medical Examiner’s Office in the days to come.
